This is the second major, meaningful synchronicity story I’ve heard this week. Thank you for sharing something with a high Woo Score. It’s helps us all embrace the spiritual side of life.
The sneezes I don't but battling pollution from a very close interstate highway is a daily battle for being able to breath. As a cancer patient partly on supplemental oxygen I take not one breath for granted. I think the universe shares a wisdom beyond logic, felt by the human spirit. At least that's my perception whenever I can venture outside. Science often trails our intuitive understanding of deep interconnectedness. I wonder though are we dismissing aligned opportunities as mere chance, ignoring the universe's purposeful nudges? These are the things I ask the birds in this rural community.
Yes. So sorry about the pollution, but inspired by your sacred appreciation of each breath. I'd say that talking to birds is a damn good way to keep your attention on a broader and more accurate version of reality than we commonly endorse.
"Meditation is the practice of being curious about life as it is." WOW. Me likey. Especially at a time when curiosity, generally, seems to have died... in favour of toeing the party line, the official narrative... don't get me started. Jeeez, now I need to go sit for a while. Except my wife just came down the stairs to ask me if I'd done my Sunday chores. I told her, "No...because nature abhores a vacuum cleaner." Thanks for that, Rick. You're the best.
She said, "All is one, and one is all." The hell does that mean? She speaks in koans. I'm blessed to have a partner who doesn't care if I understand her or not. The more I scratch my head, the happier she is. Maybe she's trying to turn my brain into a vacuum.
There's a more hifalutin word for sucks ... "Kenosis" ... the emptying out, of everything, even of God. Then we're available for the Holy Spirit to enter... and listen, Rick, I'm not even a Christian but I get that. Empty enough to experience LIFE AS IT IS... and there we are back where we started. Amen.
Thank you Brigitte. It’s a life’s work to become oneself, but the earlier on we find our way home the more the world benefits. I truly can’t imagine anything more important than supporting each other to trust who we are and the gifts we have to give.
RICK! I can't believe I stumbled across you on here, and this post in particular, today. I have been neglecting my own newsletter, but then something pretty wacky happened yesterday that led me to writing for over 5 hours - about signs! Wild synchronicity!!! So excited to have found you on another platform and look forward to reading more :)
Amazing. You should have seen the big smile on my face when I saw your name come through as a subscriber. So good to see you here, but even better to know that you are writing. How in the world did you run across my newsletter? Was it through the home feed, or a note, or . . .?
“The appearance of humor in one’s mind is a good sign that spaciousness is returning and something closer to a balanced perspective is on the way.” - really interesting thought Rick. Humor as space and balance. I have always felt it was off kilter or distraction even, but i could see it having these values too. You definitely work to derive perspective man. Wild to see the week after week grind you exert on moments having meaning. Good luck with the two wheel society, I always assumed you were more of a unicycle brother.
Thanks CansaFis. Does it feel like I'm "grinding" from your perspective as a reader? Doesn't feel that way in the creation process, I love looking for that spark of meaning and connection. But would genuinely love to know if doing it week after week, as you say, feels like a grind to read. Always grateful for your insights and perspective.
…never a grind Rick…but i also would say don’t be afraid to try other paths either…master storyteller yourself i imagine you would find value in using the craft for different means sometimes…endless paints in endless buckets and sometimes we should swim in them just as much as we would paint…
“I’m 100% convinced that science will continue to run behind human experience and decades later provide proof of natural wisdom that we’ve been instinctively guided by all along.
We’re so much more connected to one another, to nature, to subtle realms of energy and experience than the western mind will allow us to admit.“
Exactly, Rick! Deeply reflective post, this one, in a way that does that magic weaving of strands that the universe seems to dangle in front of us.
I’ve noticed so much of this in my life in the past few weeks. I usually call it serendipity, but it feels too frequent an alignment to be by chance.
It IS possible to align with the phenomena in the universe in a way that feels impossible to the logical mind, but entirely natural and reasonable to the human spirit.
I like what you are touching on here, namely that it’s ALL serendipity. Very happy that the weaving of strands included our crossing of paths Eric. Your championing of effortlessness is all about this magic that’s possible for all of us.
I often find inspiration from mediation, just like you say:
“It wasn’t my job to think inspired thoughts, it was my job to simply stay present. And, in fact, doing so allowed these notions to flow spontaneously from an abundant source.”
Rick, this is such a wonderful reminder to pay attention to "coincidences." Maybe there *are* no "coincidences." And your discussion about accepting what is during a meditation session (and maybe other times as well) brings to mind a saying I once read about meditation: "It's not about getting what you want, but wanting what you get." That's so easy to understand yet so difficult to live by. Good luck with both of your new communities! The universe is indeed listening. I just need to pay attention!!
Thanks Larry. It's funny that we even have a word and category for occurrences that we call coincidences, when just walking down the street is a stunningly improbable coordination of a thousand points of sound, light, perceptions, and simultaneous miracles of the universe.

High Woo Score! : )

He he he - thanks friend. We'll sit in solidarity and tandem to erase that party line. But do tell, how did the Mrs take to your vacuous response?
She said, "All is one, and one is all." The hell does that mean? She speaks in koans. I'm blessed to have a partner who doesn't care if I understand her or not. The more I scratch my head, the happier she is. Maybe she's trying to turn my brain into a vacuum.
Oh man, that sucks.

: ) Amen indeed
Another beautiful and enchantingly resonant piece you wrote here, Rick.
These words by David Whyte came to mind: "What if the world is holding its breath–waiting for you to take the place that only you can fill?"
What if!?
Thank you Brigitte. It’s a life’s work to become oneself, but the earlier on we find our way home the more the world benefits. I truly can’t imagine anything more important than supporting each other to trust who we are and the gifts we have to give.
Coming home…indeed. The arc of story, life‘s lessons, life in general – isn’t it all about becoming ambassadors, to ourselves and to others?
"ambassadors to ourselves and to others"!! yes! : )
Hey Rick, I know it's listening. And wow, those cherry blossoms!!
It's gotten even more pinkly insane here since I took that photo.

You were in one of those “People to follow” recommendations ☺️ Made my day!
so cool. glad to bump into you here at the other party in town.

Great article, Rick. This is worth framing:
“I’m 100% convinced that science will continue to run behind human experience and decades later provide proof of natural wisdom that we’ve been instinctively guided by all along.
We’re so much more connected to one another, to nature, to subtle realms of energy and experience than the western mind will allow us to admit.“
Thank you Brenda.

Yes. Exactly! Our paths crossing was definitely a weaving of strands of magic! 🙏

Brilliant! Spectacular! Inspiring!
To your last two questions, I have six words:
Yes!
Yes, yes, yes, yes,yes!
3 YES’ s for each question.
Thank you!
Hooray. No surprise. Do we really even need another word other than "yes"?
Yes, that is correct. We do not.
